FAQ
What is the USD black-market rate in Vietnam today?
The free-market ("black") USD rate is derived from USDT/VND prices on P2P exchanges — shown in real time at the top of the page, with day/week/month/year history.
Why is the black-market USD higher than the bank rate?
Demand for cash/crypto USD on the free market usually exceeds official supply, so the price runs a few percent above the quoted bank rate. That gap — the premium — measures pressure on the Vietnamese dong.
Where does the data come from?
From thousands of USDT/VND buy/sell orders on Binance P2P and Bybit P2P each hour, using the median to cut noise, compared against the official USD/VND bank rate. This is an analytics indicator, not an exchange.
What do positive and negative premium mean?
Positive premium = people are buying USD via crypto (pressure on VND, often ahead of FX moves). Negative premium = USDT is cheaper than the bank rate — an opportunity for USD buyers.
